Iluvien
Iluvien is an injectable implant of a steroid known as fluocinolone acetonide. This medication is FDA approved for the treatment of diabetic macular edema for individuals who have not had a significant increase in eye pressure with a previous course of corticosteroids. It has the potential for a long term solution with demonstrated efficacy of reducing macular edema for up to 24 months. This medication does carry the risk of cataract progression as well as elevated intraocular pressure.
